Happy Feat Inc is a community dance group for people with disability, celebrating abilities and helping everyone shine. We promote positivity, respect, and teamwork so every session is fun, social and joyful—no wonder we’ve grown over 16 years with a waiting list to join.
Happy Feat provides a supportive, encouraging, and disciplined environment where people of all abilities can thrive. It is a place where individuals are empowered to focus on their strengths and talents, rather than limitations, allowing them to shine and achieve their personal best. Through dance, music, and teamwork, our members build confidence, form friendships, and enjoy meaningful social connections in a fun, positive space.
Our dancers, aged from 16 to 70 years young, come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including Acquired Brain Injury, Down Syndrome, Autism, Fragile X, Asperger’s, and hearing impairments. When given encouragement and freedom, they consistently achieve remarkable outcomes that inspire everyone around them.
The name “Happy Feat” reflects what we see every week—an incredible feat each time our dancers take the floor. Their passion for dance, music, and life is contagious, creating an atmosphere filled with joy, connection, and confidence.
Based in Townsville and across North Queensland, Happy Feat aims to break down barriers, and provide opportunities many of our members have never experienced before. Over the years, our dancers have performed at a wide range of major community and professional events, including concerts with Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem, and Marcia Hines, as well as the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games Opening Ceremony, Carols by Candlelight, and the Premier’s Queensland Disaster Appeal Concert—where they received a standing ovation.
Happy Feat is powered entirely by a passionate team of dedicated volunteers, whose commitment and care help create a safe, welcoming, and uplifting environment. In return, they often say they learn more about life from our dancers than they could ever imagine.
Just two hours of dance each week has a profound impact. Our dancers grow in confidence, build meaningful friendships, improve communication skills, and engage more fully with the world around them. They surprise not only their families—but themselves—with what they can achieve. The mantra is, "Believe and you can achieve."
At Happy Feat, dance is more than movement—it’s connection, confidence, and pure joy.
